Following a year of development including new design of the hardware and completely new design and implementation of the software, the new Apspara version camera was donated to Dunhunag Academy on August 2011.

This camera enables, for the first time, capturing of statues in the caves in high resolution thanks to its automate focal stack function.

The new pan-tilt unit enables high resolution imaging of the  the painting on the slopes of the pyramidical ceiling of the caves - a previously very tedious task.
