The Scanner Prototype

1. The scanner consists of a Camera (Sony ILCE-QX1) placed on a custom made XYZ gantry. A very accurate Z-axis enables accurate focus slicing and use of microscope objectives as lenses.

3. The scanner  has its own computer and does not require to be connected to an external computer to work.
   
   

4. The Scanner prototype size is 50x50 cm. Scan area is 35x45 cm, which is a little bit larger than A3 size.
   
   

5. The scanner size  can easily grow to 150x150 cm, and is limited only by the available aluminium rail size.
   
   The maximal resolution with x4 microscope objective is over 12K dpi.
   

6. 
   All software, including scanner control, camera control, and tailored and fast image stitching was written from scratch.
